Details:
The annual Berkeley Nanotechnology Opportunity Challenge is a competition where teams from various schools including UC Berkeley, UCSF and Stanford, present potential applications and commercial opportunities for ideas in nanotechnology. Round One focuses more on the technological aspects and was held on November 14, 2006. Eleven teams competed in Round One and the three winners will now participate in the final round of the challenge. The top two teams from the final round of the Nano Opportunity Challenge will be automatically entered into the semifinal round of the Berkeley Business Plan competition.

Admission to the final round on Feb 13, 2007 is free and open to the public. Pizza and refreshments will be served. Come listen to the business plans of three teams with ideas for cutting-edge nanotechnology ideas.

1. NanoHound: Affordable, versatile chemical sensor-receptor for explosive and small-molecules detection.

2. NanoRay: Microscanner technology for low-cost displays and biomedical applications.
